Achilles Tenderloin on stage at the Skyline Wednesday May 6th 7pm

Achilles Tenderloin is Joe Augustin, a folk-blues songwriter from Richmond, Indiana. Joe’s music is most notable for its passionate vocals, heavily textured lyrics, and unique guitar picking style. Achilles Tenderloin, often accompanied by Aaron Nell, performs frequently in venues spanning Indiana, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky. Stronger Than Wine, Achilles Tenderloin’s third and newest album, also features Aaron Nell, whose colorful horn and fiddle arrangements breathe new life into Augustin’s songs. Nell’s horn shines brightly through the dark landscapes of Augustin’s Save My own, Daisy May, and Let The Good Times Roll. His lilting fiddle arrangements lend an older air to Augustin’s Doppler Blues and Steel Hammer Blues. The album’s four cover tunes feature Nell on fiddle as well, including songs from Blind Willie Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Leadbelly and The Toadies’ Todd Lewis. All ten tracks were recorded and produced on May 31, 2014 by award winning Piedmont style blues guitarist Chris Yakopcic at Streets Sounds Recording Studio, in Dayton Ohio. Augustin currently lives in Richmond, IN, home to historic label Gennett Records, which boasts early recordings by such artists as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Charlie Patton and many others. He has booked and organized a variety of music events, including a number of monthly concert series and a two-day outdoor festival, Big Dawg On My Trail: Grassroots Brews, Blues & arts Festival. Admission is $5 and kids 11 and under are free. The show is at 7pm.
