This weekend we have The Grinch – Dr. Seuss’ animated 1960’s Xmas classic gets a modern update from Benedict Cumberbatch!  Our 2nd feature is   First Man – why it took Hollywood nearly 50 years to tell his story – I’ll never know, but First Man follows the life of Neil Armstrong on his path to setting foot on the moon.

For our 1st weekend in October we say goodbye to one film, but welcome a new one…..the 1st is our last weekend for the animated film Smallfoot….a yeti named Migo is convinced that the elusive creatures known as “humans” really do exist after a chance encounter with one!  Our 2nd feature is the film adaptation of  John Bellairs beloved 1973 teen mystery novel The House With A Clock In Its Walls” in which an orphaned 10 year old boy goes to live with his uncle, only to find there is more to his uncle and his kooky house than meets the eye!

And as always, the 1st Saturday of the month means our monthly installment of Drive-Insanity is this Saturday – making this Saturday night a quadruple feature!!!   This Saturday, after Smallfoot and The House With A Clock In It...

This Wednesday night we have a hell of an Indie Sinsations!  The acclaimed new horror/mystery film Summer of ’84 and last years comedy/horror Pool Party Massacre.  Summer Of ’84 is creating quite a buzz and we are the only theater’s in Indiana screening it. Don’t miss your chance to see it!

Look out Kaiju are on the loose!  Based on the 1986 arcade game, the Rock stars as a primatologist trying to stop 3 mutated gargantuan animals from cutting a swath of destruction across North America in, Rampage!  Our 2nd feature continues the Kaiju kraziness with the 2nd installment of Pacific Rim. Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat in Pacific Rim: Uprising.

This weekend’s double-feature begins as the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune in Ready Player One. Our 2nd feature, 12 Strong,  tells the story of the 1st special forces team deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11; under the leadership of a new captain, the team must work with an Afghan warlord to take down the Taliban.

We have NO trivia winner?!  Peter Rabbit is the 2nd live-action/CGI  hybrid film to have a rabbit character as the main protagonist – name the 1st?  No one was 1st to correctly answer….Hop.  So nobody gets 2 free passes to the Skyline…that’s crazy!

In the past, we emailed a weekly newsletter but decided it was simpler and more direct to use the wonderful features of our website to communicate with Skyliners – so here it begins! In 1931, Richard Hollingshead Jr. owned and worked in his own automotive supply store called Whiz Auto Products Company.  Always on the lookout for the next great new idea, Hollingshead noted that even though the Great Depression was in full swing, people still found money to attend movies at their local theater.  He pondered the means to combine his auto parts business with movies and dreampt of opening a deluxe gas station and auto repair shop that featured a restaurant and movies for the customers to watch while they customers waited for their car repairs to be completed.  To bring his dream to fold, Hollingshead began by experimenting with the “outdoor movie” concept (and as he progressed, the concept morphed to exclude the gas station and auto repair business).

Our annual Independence Day celebration is happening Saturday July 2nd.  The gates open at 5pm and normal admission applies ($8 for adults, $4 for kids 3-11 and 2 and under are free).  Join us for four movies: Finding Dory, Independence Day Resurgence, Captain America: Civil War & The Dark from 1979.  There will be a free bounce house for the kids and of course our retro arcade The Skycade will be open all day & night.  Our massive fireworks show by Premier Pyro will happen after the first movie (about 11:15pm).  Stay all night and camp with us! Lexi Len & The Strangers make sweet, heartbreaker country. Lexi began playing shows at 8 years old when she would step up during the set breaks at her Daddy’s shows and proceed to break every heart in the house with her sweet voice. Now, she picks with an outfit of Bloomington, Indiana’s finest seasoned musicians. Mark Minnick (Crooked County, Mary Janes) locks down the drums and Ryan Payton (220 Breakers) rocks the bass. Jason Payton (220 Breakers, Payton Purnell) pulls big tones from his guitars and the sound is rounded out by Matt Lundquist (Otto Mobile, TVMike, Payton Purnell) on the pedal steel.

Nedfest 2015 runs from June 29th to July 1st. Each night we open at 7pm. Admission is only $5 and kids 11 and under are free.

Here’s what we have in store for you: Monday June 29th-Brandon Maddox on stage at 7:30pm then we will show the original car chase classic Gone in 60 seconds. Bands are to be announced for our first annual Nedfest music festival.  Tickets will be available online and at the Skyline.  A three day pass will be available for $20.  Daily tickets are $10 at the gate.  There will be three hours of music each evening followed by special movie presentations.  Gates open at 6pm each night during Nedfest so come celebrate July 4th early.
